Son of John Perrine Guiou and Welthy Sprague Guiou Fisher.

Per Census information Charles gave his parents as both being born in New York.

The Guiou name is often misspelled as Guion.

Some of Charles siblings were Theodore, Eva Jane, and Martha who died as children. Some of his other siblings were Ella and Alfred. A possible half brother was Isaac Sprague.

Charles was married twice, first to Ella Pounsford and next to Harriet Pinkerton.

Name: Ella H Pounsford
Spouse Name: Chas H Guiou
Marriage Date: 11 Oct 1865
Marriage Place: Cook County, Illinois, USA

The location of Charles first wife's obituary:
GUIOU, (Mrs. C. H.); 13 May 1885; Omaha, Nebraska; Omaha Bee; morning edition; page 8.

GUION, Charles H.; aged 64; married Harriet B. PINKERTON; aged 36; Nov 1902; Omaha, Nebraska; license# 12224.

Charles Guiou and his family can be documented in Omaha as early as the 1870 Census. Living with Charles and his first wife Ella at that time was their son Charles A Guiou, her sister Sallie Pounsford, and his brother Alfred William Guiou.

The 1870 Census in Omaha is barely legible but it looks like Charles might have supported his family as a bookkeeper.

Sometime between the 1870 Census and the 1880 Census Charles young son Charles passed away. In 1880 son Arthur Pounsford Guiou was first enumerated.

In 1880 Charles sister Ella/Ellen Guiou Parker lived in Omaha with her husband Arthur A Parker. Their children at the time were Alice, Ada, Blanche, and Cecil (Cecil was a girl and would later have the married name of Elmer). The Parker family later moved to Hollywood, California.

In 1880 Charles was a lumber merchant and speculator. He worked the lumber market in Omaha for more than 35 years and his son Arthur also worked in the profession until his death.

Charles burial date was October 8th, 1919.
