Sandra Vincent, age 77, of rural Hull, IL passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at her residence. She was born in rural New Canton on March 12, 1939 to Casper Briggs and Thelma Loretta McNary Allensworth. Sandra married Lester Vincent on July 6, 1958 at the Methodist Church in New Canton and he survives.
Sandra graduated from West Pike in 1957 and many years later, received her art degree at Quincy College. Sandra had many God-given artistic talents working in several mediums with painting being her favorite. She was involved with several community art projects, as well as painted many murals in her home. Sandra had a beautiful singing voice. She was a very accomplished seamstress, sewing her children’s clothes when they were young, formal dresses and later enjoyed quilting. Sandra and Lester took occasional vacations over the years, beginning with a honeymoon to the Bad Lands and continuing on to destinations of Hawaii, Washington D.C., California, New Orleans, and Renfro Valley and Vincent, Kentucky. Time spent with family was a constant source of enjoyment, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with her own children, she enjoyed time with nieces and nephews including experiencing shenanigans of certain nephews.
Sandra was an active member of the United Baptist Church of Hull & Kinderhook, serving as a deaconess, participating in the social committee and teaching Bible School and Sunday School. She was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star where she held many positions within the organization. Sandra was a 55 year member of the Hi-Neighbor Club, as well as a member of Home Extension and the Quincy Art Club for many years. Sandra was very involved in her community and served as the election judge for Cincinnati Township for over 45 years.
She was survived by her husband, Lester Vincent; one son, Michael (Dawn) Vincent of Hull; three daughters, Linda (Jim) Luedtke of Downers Grove, IL, Leslie (Eric) Duncan of Hull, and Betsy (Don) Krause of Kirksville, MO; nine grandchildren, Clayton Luedtke, Whitney Luedtke, Courtney Duncan, Quinton Duncan, Hailey Gallagher, Alec Gallagher, Margo Krause, William Krause, and Scott Krause; six great grandchildren, Ryne, Emmarie, Averie, Briggs, Maxxon, and Carter; one sister, Janice (John) Shue of Barry; two sisters-in-law, Mary Catherine Allensworth of Barry and Ethel Vaughn of Hannibal; one brother-in-law, Don (Kathy) Vincent of Champaign; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Lyle Gene Allensworth and Garrill Newton Allensworth; one sister-in-law, Mary Rosanna Allensworth; and one brother-in-law Paul Vincent.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 31, 2016 at United Baptist Church of Hull & Kinderhook at 11:00 AM with Dr Greg Maize officiating. Burial will be at the Kinderhook Cemetery following the service. Visitation will be Friday, December 30, 2016 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at the Niebur Funeral Chapel in Barry. Memorials are suggested to the United Baptist Church of Hull in Kinderhook and the James E. Cary Cancer Center in Hannibal.
