Archie Harrison
Dies Here at 71
Archie E. Harrison, 71, a retired Burlington railroad maintenance of way employe, died suddenly at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. He suffered a heart attack while mowing a lawn at 704 west Fremont street.
Mr. Harrison had lived in the Cromwell and Creston communities nearly all of his life. He had worked for the Burlington railroad for 30 years before retiring a few years ago. His home was at 402 south Poplar street.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Christian church here. Rev. Glenn Cadwell, the pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery.
Archie E. Harrison was born in Iowa, May 28, 1894. He was the son of Charles Benjamin and Florence Mapes Harrison. He was married at Emerson, Nebr., June 6, 1915 to Nora Robinson.
He is survived by his widow; two sons, Eugene Harrison and Kenneth Harrison, both of Creston; a daughter Mrs. Lee (Virgie) Smith of Compton, Calif.; 15 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren; two brothers, George Harrison of Marshalltown and Ray Harrison of Centerville; and six sisters, Edith Harrison of Winterset, Mrs. Flossie Davis of Stuart, Mrs. Fern Plymesser of Greenfield, Mrs. Helen Johnston of Dexter, Mrs. Rex Lane of Orient and Mrs. James Herrick of Creston.
Mr. Harrison was a member of the First Christian church.
