DE SOTO — Charles Lindsey, 86, went to meet Jesus and rest came to his tired body at 12:25 a.m. Dec. 27, 2016, in Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.

Charles was born July 3, 1930, in Gorham, to H. O. Lindsey and Hattie (Brown) Lindsey.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

Charles married the love of his life, Rose Mary Rimkus on June 5, 1954, in Ironwood, Michigan, and she preceded him in death Feb. 27, 2011.

He was a carpenter and a member of Carpenter's Local 638 in Marion. He was very creative and could accomplish anything he put his mind to. He was a master craftsman with wood products. He was also a very good athlete. He loved playing baseball and basketball.

Mr. Lindsey attended Church of the Nazarene in Murphysboro.

He loved his family more than any man could and was always there for them when needed.

He had three children, Mary, Charles & Christina who were all raised in Gorham Illinois. Christina preceded him in death.
He was laid to rest in Goodbread Cemetery next to his wife on December 29, 2016 with a private graveside service.
