Thomas Boyer, 64, formerly of Mountain Top, passed away, Thursday, January 10, 2008, at Providence Place, Drums.
Thomas was born January 11, 1943, in Nanticoke. He was a 1961 graduate of Nanticoke High School.
Thomas served from 1961 to 1965 in the U.S. Air Force. He received an honorable discharge in 1965 and returned home to Mountain Top.
Mr. Boyer retired from Mideast Aluminum Industries in Mountain Top after many years of service.
He was also employed by Foster Wheeler in Mountain Top and the former Rose's Department Store in Louisville, Ky.
Thomas was a loving father and grandfather. He was skilled with his hands. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved camping and hiking with his dog.
Thomas had a passion for sports cars and spent many Sundays watching the races.
Late in life, he developed a passion for photography, his favorite subjects being nature and his new granddaughter.
He spent many years caring for his aging mother so that she could remain in her own home into her nineties.
Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Chester Boyer, who died June 10, 1990; his mother Anna Rogoznician Boyer, who died February 9, 2006.
Thomas is survived by his children, Cristy Boyer Mulherin, of Stroudsburg, and Matthew Thomas Boyer, of Philadelphia. He is also survived by two loving sisters, Adelle Boyer-Weiss, of Clarksville, Tenn., and Adrienne Boyer, of Glen Summit. In addition, he is going to be missed by his granddaughter, Maura Anne Mulherin, of Stroudsburg.
He will be dearly missed.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 14 in Emmanuel UCC in Dorrance. There will be no viewing. Arrangements are by the McCune Funeral Home, 80 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Dr., Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
