Eddie attended Boddie (pronounced Body) High School in Milledgeville, Georgia and graduated in 1968. Following high school, he attended Georgia College in Milledgeville, Georgia and married his high school sweetheart on September 19, 1969. That same year, he joined the United States Army where he attended Baylor University at Fort Sam Houston, Texas and earned his medical certifications for the military. He was also a great athlete-he played football in high school and the Army and soccer at Georgia College. Eddie had been a resident of the city of Frederick for over 30 years. He retired as a senior Non-Commissioned Officer of the United States Army at Fort Detrick in Frederick, Maryland in 1991. After his military career, he was employed with the Frederick Memorial Hospital as a clinical laboratory technician and was medically retired in 2003.

First and foremost, Eddie loved his family and friends dearly and would travel far and wide to spend time with them. Always willing to strike up a conversation with a perfect stranger wherever he went, he had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to make everyone laugh. He had a passion for watching sports on television, especially football. He was a serious music lover with an extensive music collection that could not be rivaled. He loved to go fishing.
