Mrs. Craven was born in Clay County, Missouri on December 31, 1825 and would have been 80 years old the last day of this year. She was married in 1847, to James Craven, and ten children were born to them, nine of whom are living. They are Atchison, Riley, Thomas, DeWitt and James Craven. Emily, the wife of Thos. Lollar of Wright county, Florence, the wife of James Henry, Lois, the wife of Marshall Dagley of Excelsior Springs, and Mrs. Amanda Brown of Ray County. Mrs. Evaline Craven and Mrs. Lydia Isley, who live here are sisters of Mrs. Craven and are the only members of her immediate family now left.

Mrs. Craven united with the Baptist church 20 years ago, being baptized at Mount Vernon by Rev. H. A. Hunt. She was always a good Christian worker and a helpful friend, and will be greatly missed by the many to whom she was near and dear.
