Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Monday, December 19, 2016, Mrs. Frances Carpenter Bernhard, 101, wife of the late Mr. Herbert Leo Bernhard.
Mrs. Bernhard was a native of Wrens, GA. She was a graduate of Middle Georgia College. Mrs. Bernhard was an active sportswoman, loved to dance, play golf and bowl.
Family members include her son: James Erik Bernhard and wife Shirley; step-grandson: Stephen Bell; and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents: Dr. George L. and Alice Weltch Carpenter; brother: Jack Carpenter; sisters: Dorothy Carpenter, Virginia Carpenter Long, Helen Carpenter Richardson and Kathryn Carpenter Brinson.
A Mass of Christian Resurrection was held Thursday, January 5, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church with Fr. Michael Hull officiating. Interment followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
