Betty Towler Brown, age 76, of Heber Springs, Arkansas, passed away Sunday, May 1, 2005, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas. Born in El Dorado, Arkansas, on July 9, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Lois (Cheek) Towler. Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Magnolia High School in Magnolia, Arkansas, and she attended Magnolia A & M College. A farmer and rancher, she moved from Pine Bluff, Arkansas, to Heber Springs in 1969. Mrs. Brown served on the Farm Bureau, the City Planning and Zoning Commission, and was local chairman of the Red Cross for a number of years. She was also an active supporter of the school athletics program. Mrs. Brown was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Heber Springs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Brown; her parents; and one brother, Charles W. Towler. She is survived by two sons, David B. Brown of Beech Grove, Indiana, and Lloyd L. Brown of Damascus, Arkansas; two brothers, Jim Towler of Slidell, Louisiana, and Perry Towler of Shreveport, Louisiana; She was lovingly called "B. B." by her four grandchildren, Travis Brown, Ray Brown, Mac Brown, and Elizabeth Brown. Mrs. Brown is also survived by other relatives and her many friends.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 4, at 2:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Heber Springs with Rev. John Miles officiating. Interment will follow in Cleburne County Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc. in Heber Springs.
