She was a graduate of the Cleveland School of Art, a former operator for the Bell Telephone Company, and former Manager of the Men's Department of the Carlisle Allen (Liberty Plaza Branch) clothing store. Doris attended St. Joseph Church for many years
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years Maurice P. Shoup, a son, Gary T. Shoup, two brothers, James and Thomas Drexler.
She is survived by her sons, Brian T. Shoup and Patrick J. Shoup (Deborah) all of Erie; a grandson, of Erie; and a brother, Ronald Drexler of Alamogordo, New Mexico.
