Funeral services for Mrs. Harry C. "Bea" Herrington, 59, a prominent civic and social leader of Palestine, will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday at First Christian Church, Dr. James H. Lewis officiating. Burial will be at Land of Memory Cemetery under the direction of Herrington Land of Memory Funeral Home.

Mrs. Herrington died Tuesday at Anderson County Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born July 27, 1924, in Oklahoma, a daughter of John Floyd and Clara Anderson Jones. Residing in Palestine most of her life, she was a member of First Christian Church where she had served as a deaconess, Sunday School teacher, and president of Christian Women Fellowship. She served two terms on the school board of the Palestine Independent School District, was a member of the Literary Forum, Library Board and Harvey Woman's Club.

She is survived by her husband, Harry C. Herrington of Palestine; three sons, Major David E. Herrington, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Paul Herrington of Palestine and Mark Herrington of Dallas; a daughter, Mrs. John (Martha) Conner; three brothers, R.F. :Buck" Jones of McAllister, Oklahoma, C.M. "Bud" Jones of Houston and R.D. "Bob" Jones of Alvin and six grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Dale Smith, Ted Maffitt, Marley Styner, Jim Crook, Bob Harrell, Paul Elliott, Dr. Don Carroll and K.J. Williams.

Honorary pallbearer will be Judge E.T. McCain.

The family requests that memorials be made to a favorite charity.
