George was 83 years old when he died. He is buried next to his first wife Mrs. Sarah Ann Cain Hudson.

Hudsonia, Georgia is now the community of Grange in Jefferson County on Highway 88 E. Hudsonia was pretty much destroyed during General Sherman's march to the sea during the War Of Northern Aggression.

(The following Will has been transcribed from copies of microfilm records. The photocopy of the Will is from the Georgia Dept of Archives & History and was received on August 28, 1997 from Ted O. Brooke, researcher in Georgia. I have transcribed as nearly intact as possible with the exception of capitalization of proper names.)

Jefferson County }

I, GEORGE F. HUDSON, of said state & County being of sound mind & memory do make this my last will & testament.

Item First: I give to my wife AMELIA E. HUDSON the sum of three hundred dollars also all my household & Kitchen furniture this gift to her is in lieu of a twelve months support.

Item Second: I direct that my executors without the order of any court sell my tract of land situate in the 79 Dist of said county Known as the Brassell Place containing about 675 acres said sale to be according to the usual method of administrators sale & to be at such time & such terms as my executors may deem for the best interest of my estate. I direct my executors also to collect all notes accounts or other money belonging to me as soon after my death as may be reasonable & practible

Item Third: When my executors have received the proceeds of the sale of my land & have made collections as before directed & have paid to my wife the three hundred dollars as given to her in the first item of my will & have paid all debts against my estate & expenses of administration then I direct that they make distribution of the balance of said money as given & directed in the next or fourth item of this my will.

Item Fourth: I give to my sons JOHN T. HUDSON, PETER F. HUDSON, CHARLES C. HUDSON, & R FERMON HUDSON, & to my daughters LIZZIE ABBOTT, CORNELIA A. HOWELL, & FANNIE B. HUDSON each the sum of five Hundred dollars & to my daughter SUSIE ORR & to my son JAMES W. HUDSON & ALBERT F. HUDSON & to my daughter MARY C. HOLCOMB the sum of three hundred dollars & to my two grandchildren GEORGE F. HUDSON, son of ALBERT F. HUDSON, & G. F. HOWELL, son of CORNELIA E. HOWELL, each the sum of one hundred dollars in the event that the balance of money or other property in the hands of my executors after making the payment directed & contemplated in the first & third of items of my will should be insufficient to pay all the gifts or
legacies given in this fourth item in full, then all the gifts or legacies in this fourth item shall abate prorata.

Item Fifth: If after making distribution as before directed there still remains a balance of money or other property in the hands of my executors then I will & direct that all the rest & residue of said money & all other property belonging to me or to my Estate be equally divided share & share alike between my eleven children all of whom are named in the fourth item of this my will.

Item Sixth: I hereby appoint T. J. Orr & Peter J. Hudson executors of this my will in witness whereof I have hereto set my hand this 10th day of January 1906.
