Mary Catherine (Kat) Alverson Daniel, 90, passed away peacefully in Weatherford on December 3, 2016 after a long illness.
Mary Catherine was born in Bois D’Arc, Texas on December 9, 1925 to Will & Lydia Jane (Pyron) Alverson, but the family later moved to Itasca. Mary Catherine was one of 15 children. She graduated from Itasca High School in 1944.

She married G.F. Daniel, Jr. on November 15, 1946 in Hillsboro, Texas. They settled in Itasca where they raised their 3 children, Ronnie, Susan and Dee Ann.

Mary Catherine was a dedicated and hard worker and was employed with First National Bank of Itasca for almost two decades and after her retirement returned to work for the City of Itasca.

Mary Catherine was a loving and devoted mother. She was very proud of her family and loved being “Gannies” to her 4 grandchildren. Family time was extremely important to her as well as spending hours cooking. She was a fantastic cook and she was always so pleased to have an “extra pair of feet” under her table. If you were at her table, it was guaranteed that you would be served a fantastic meal. If you were ever fortunate enough to have her fried chicken or sugar cookies, you would indeed remember it.

She was a joy to be around and her sense of humor even made time with her more fun. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters Susan Strickland of New Braunfels, and Dee Ann Barnes and husband Brett of Weatherford; grandchildren: Stephanie Lenderman of New Braunfels, Matt Daniel and wife Elisha of Maypearl, Stephen Daniel and wife Stephanie of Maypearl and Justin Barnes of Weatherford; great grandchildren: Jake & Katelyn Lenderman of New Braunfels, Tanner & Emma Daniel, Madison & Teagan Daniel all of Maypearl and Haylie & Zachary Barnes of Weatherford. Daughter-in-law, Judy Daniel of Maypearl, and sisters Dorothy Curry of Itasca and Wanda Marshall of Waxahachie and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins and other extended family.

Mary Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, G.F. in 2001 and son Ronnie in 2014.

Services will be held Tuesday, December 6th at 2:00pm at First Presbyterian Church in Itasca with Diane Barnes and Van Houser officiating and interment in the Itasca Cemetary.
