Abigail "Abbie" Rangel Calzada, 57, of Port Lavaca, died Monday, July 28, 2008. She was born Feb. 11, 1951, in Harlingen, to the late Ascencion Rangel and Maria Consuelo Garcia. She was a homemaker and a C.C.D. teacher. She was a member of Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church, Sacred Heart of Jesus Society, Crucillista, Calhoun County Little League Association, and Our Lady of the Gulf Jail Ministry.

She is survived by her husband, Cipriano "Chito" Calzada Jr.; daughters, Monica Calzada, Blanca Calzada and fiancee Robert Williams, all of Port Lavaca, and Carmelita Calzada of Baton Rouge, La.; sons, Staff Sgt. Roberto Calzada of Fort Drum, N.Y., Cipriano R. Calzada III and wife Elizabeth of San Antonio, and Juan Jose "J.J." Calzada and wife Miranda Solis of Port Lavaca; 13 grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. today at Artero Memorial Chapels in Port Lavaca. Visitation will resume from 5-7 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. today at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church.
