In his younger years, he had been a machinist for International Harvester.
Along with his loving wife, his joy came from helping and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow, but the best day of his life was November 13, 2014 when he accepted a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son Eddie Defevers, son-in-law Gayle Michael Chavies, and brothers James Defevers, Taylor Defevers, and Jack Defevers.
Survivors include his praying wife of 63 years, Mona Brock Defevers, children, Karen Chavies and Scott Defevers; grandchildren Joshua (Katie) Defevers, Jessica (Clay) Carroll, Jonathan (Tiffany) Defevers, and Holly (Kenny) Vanover; great-grandchildren Caitlin Defevers, Brayden Carroll, Kasen Vanover, Claire Partin, Tucker Partin and baby Vanover due May 2017; sisters Juanita Price and Gertrude Smith.
