Alice or "Allie" as she was called on several census reports was born in Georgia. 1811 is consistent for a date of birth. The marker gives a death of 1878. I don't like to argue with that normally but I do know that mistakes can be made by the monument company or by relatives who do not put up a marker until well after the fact. I believe it is safe to assume that the place of was Clay County, Florida as that was the place of residence in 1880. Although her headstone indicates 1878 year of death, she appears on the 1880 United States Federal Census. I suspect the last two digits of the death year were swapped in error.
