Dennis K. Merritt, 75, of Amarillo, died Wednesday, November 23, 2016. Dennis was born on August 23, 1941 in Pittsboro, Indiana to Helen and Ercell Merritt, the oldest of nine children.

Dennis was a veteran in the United States Air Force. He had been a painter. Dennis was a member of Palo Duro Baptist Church. He married Teresa Ann Viney on April 18, 1986 in Frankfort, Indiana.

Dennis was preceded in death by a son Phillip Merritt.

He is survived by his wife, Teresa Merritt, of the home; three daughters, Bonita Merritt of Frankfort, Indiana; Nicole Peel and Beth Duncan, both of Amarillo; two sons, Scott Merritt of Frankfort, Indiana and Nicholas Church of Amarillo; one brother, Richard Merritt of Frankfort, Indiana; two sisters, Martha Ridge of Frankfort, Indiana and Sharon Scolley of Vega; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Monday in Palo Duro Baptist Church in Wildorado with Ron Muller, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Palo Duro Cemetery.
