Abraham Bradley II was born on 26 July 1702 in Guilford, Connecticut, son of Abraham Bradley I of Guilford and Jane Leaming, born on Long Island, New York. His Bradley grandfather was Stephen who immigrated to New Haven about 1645 from Bingley, Yorkshire, England, with his mother Elizabeth Bradley and four siblings. His Leaming grandfather was Christopher who first immigrated to Long Island, later helping found Cape May, New Jersey.

Abraham earned a degree from Yale College about 1723 and was a teacher in his hometown most years in the period 1723-1750, earning 40 pounds per year, according to Biographical Sketches of the Graduates of Yale College.

In August 1728 in Guilford, Abraham Bradley was married to Reliance Stone by James Hooker, J. P., according to the New England Historical and Genealogical Register Volume 57 (1903). Their 8 children were all born in Guilford including son Leaming whose first name was his grandmother Jane's maiden name. Others were Sarah, Abraham III, Hannah, Lucy, Beata, Peleg and Thomas. Sons Peleg, Abraham III and Leaming also moved to Litchfield, Abraham III by 1763, Leaming about 1769 with wife Anna and several children including Aaron who served in the Revolutionary War. Abraham III also served in the Revolution, and his son Abraham IV was U.S. assistant postmaster general from 1793–1829.

Brothers Abraham III, Leaming and Peleg Bradley became major land owners in Litchfield, according to the Connecticut Nutmegger, Vol 42, pages 201-202, Dec 2009.
