Howard was serving a life sentence at Parchman since the age of 34. He had spent about half of his life in prison at the time of his death.

Howard Dale Jennings died Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at Greenwood LeFlore Hospital. He was 65. A Yazoo County native, Mr. Jennings was a carpenter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Darlene and Josie Jennings; and four brothers, Hilton Jennings, Elvis Jennings, Coleman Jennings and Herman Jennings.
He is survived by two sons, Tony Dale Jennings and Scott Sand Jennings, both of Yazoo County; two daughters, Donna Joyce Jennings Bardwell of Yazoo City and Connie Sue Robinson of Yazoo County; five brothers, Clifton Jennings of Yazoo County, Al Jennings of Yazoo City, Dusty Jennings of Raymond, Herrod Jennings of Crossett, Ark., and Jerry Jennings of Seattle, Wash.; five sisters, Darlene Emerson of Utica, Deborah Sanders of Meridian, Melba McIlwain of Biloxi, Marlene Adamson Piscah of Forest, N.C., and Violet Hardison of Sebree, Ky.; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Edgefield Cemetery in McCool with the Rev. Bob Hardison officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home.
