Bernerd "Bernie" C. Ackerson, 87, of Mount Gilead, Ohio, formerly of Waterloo, died Monday, Nov. 3, at Ravenwood Nursing and Rehab Center, of natural causes.

He was born May 14, 1910, in Cedar Falls, son of Charles and Ida Belle Perry Ackerson.

He married Dorothy Yostick in 1927. She died in 1987.

Mr. Ackerson was a retired farmer.

Survived by: six sons, Charles Ackerson of Sumner, Keith Ackerson of Edinburg, Texas, Wayne Secor of Texas, Robert Ackerson of Waterloo, Herman Ackerson of California and Bernerd "Boon" Ackerson Jr. of Bloom City, Wis.; and 22 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: a sister, Fern Paulson.

Memorial services: 1 p.m. Friday at Parrott & Wood Funeral Home. Memorials: may be directed to the family.
