Michael C. Fletcher, Sr. passed away on September 2, 2015 in Monterey, California at the age of 84. He had been a resident of Monterey County since 1988.

Born in San Diego, Mike attended high school at Grossmont High School in El Cajon, CA, the University of Arizona in Tucson, and later the University of California at Berkeley.

Mike served in the US Air Force and after graduation from the University of Arizona, he married Donna Lou Flickinger of Phoenix. Mike then joined Sears-Roebuck in an executive training program and worked in Phoenix, Santa Rosa and Sunnyvale before joining the Ed Fletcher Company of San Diego. The Ed Fletcher Company was a family owned real estate development company. He served that company from 1956 to 1964 when he left to form his own company called The Fletcher Company. Mike and his two sons developed many commercial and residential properties including the 1,031 home master planned community of Las Palmas Ranch in Monterey County.

During his business career, Mr. Fletcher was active in community service including the Board of Directors of the San Diego Family Service, San Diego Opera, First National Bank, San Diego National Bank, Scripps Hospital and others. Mr. Fletcher was also active in community affairs in Monterey County. He was a founding member of the Center for Community Affairs helping migrant and other disadvantaged families with housing matters. He served on the Board of Trustees of Natividad Hospital during the period leading up to the construction of the new hospital. His wife Donna preceded him in death having passed away in 2006.

Mike is survived by his second wife, Nancy Kessler of Carmel Valley with whom he was very happy; and his brothers, Lawrence Fletcher of El Cajon, CA and Edward Fletcher, III. Mike and Donna were the parents of Sherilyn Henry (Douglas) of Fairfield, CA; James Fletcher (Lisa) of Gilroy, CA and Michael C. Fletcher, Jr. (Janis) of Pebble Beach, CA. They were the Grandparents of Amber Henry Neuroth (Michael) of Washington, D.C.; Brian Henry (Andrea) of Redwood City, CA; Christin Stover (Joshua) of Ashburn, VA; Kenneth Fletcher of Washington, D.C.; Jessica Fletcher of Gilroy, CA; Jenna Fletcher of Livermore, CA; Ashley Fletcher of Mountain View, CA; Katelyn Fletcher of Pebble Beach, CA and Jonathan Fletcher of Pebble Beach. Mike was especially proud of his six great-grandchildren, William, James, Preston, Ava, Dameon and Grace.

The family wishes that any donations in his name be to The Boys and Girls Club of Monterey County. Funeral services will be held privately and a life celebration event is being planned for November 14th.
