Hazel Marie Mahan, age 88, went to be with her Heavenly Father, Friday, February 25, 2011.She was the widow of Reverend James P. Mahan, (May 16, 1992) who pastored several Church’s of the Nazarene in Iowa and southern Indiana. Hazel was born in Lawrence Co., IL on March 21, 1922. She was the only surviving child of Frank and Elsie (York) Pinkstaff. Two brothers, Austin Pinkstaff and Arthur Pinkstaff; and five sisters, Bonnie Weger, Minnie Lutrick, Macy Pinkstaff, Helen (Fisher) Higgins, and Wanda Manship, all preceded her death.She is survived by her children; James F. Mahan (Carol) Franklin, TN, Carolyn Chalmers (Milton) of Pinellas Park, Fl, Mark Mahan (Jan) of Elkhart, IN; grandchildren, James (Jay) N. Mahan (Kerri), of Mt. Vernon, OH, Steven M. Mahan, of Franklin, TN, Crystal Reed of Va. Beach, VA, Joshua Mahan (Wendy) of Crawfordsville, IN, Jessica Trosper, of Elkhart, IN; Eleven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.Hazel was a member of Vincennes First Church of the Nazarene. As she served with her Husband in churches she ministered in many ways. She was Missionary President, pianist, soloist, teen and children leaders, women’s group leader, speaker, VBS director to name just a few. She was a faithful wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to manyWe will celebrate her life on Sat. March 5, 2011 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway, Vincennes, IN. There will be a visitation time, Friday March 4, 2011, from 5 to 8 pm at the same location.
