Violet "Hummy" M. Strohl, of Allentown, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016 at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Twp. Born in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Selma M. (Meierhoff) Strohl.

Violet was a graduate of UCLA and Allentown School of Nursing. She served her country honorably during the Korean Conflict as a Navy Nurse. Violet was a Public Health Nurse working for the State Department of Health for 20 years in the Scranton area and 6 years in the Lehigh Valley before retiring in 1989. She was a member of Zion E.C. Church, Allentown where she was a former Board Member and served as Secretary and Steward. Violet was a Past President and Secretary of Woman Veterans of PA, a member of Navy Nurse Corps Assoc., and a Charter Member of VFW Post #12099 in New Tripoli. She loved her dachsunds.

Survivors: Nieces and Nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert, Frederick and Richard.

Services: Memorial Service 10:30am Saturday, November 19, 2016 in the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, Inc. 46 E. Susquehanna St., Allentown. Visitation for family and friends to be held 9:30am until time of service. Inurnment to follow at St. Mark's Cemetery, Allentown.
