Son of Edward Marvin Davis & Celia Ray Montague. Husband of Margaret Barrera (ma. 07 Jun 1958).

Bayview, Texas- Edward Thomas Davis 82, of Bayview, died November 5, 2016, with family members by his side.

Thomas was born to the late Edward Marvin Davis and Cecilia Ray Montague - Davis, January 3, 1934, in Wanchese, North Carolina. Thomas attended public school in Wanchese. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957 and was honorably discharged and served in the U.S. Army Reserve from 1957 to 1963. Thomas worked for Brown and Root, Inc. in Brownsville, TX and Manama, Bahrain and retired in 1986.

Thomas was predeceased by a sister, Phyllis Gessford of Hampton, VA; and his brothers-in-law: Rafael Jr., William, Ramiro, Jose, Ruben and Gustavo Barrera.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Margaret Barrera Davis. Thomas and Margaret were married in Port Isabel, on June 7, 1958, and lived together in Port Isabel and Bayview.

Thomas is also survived by three children: Daniel Davis (Evana) of San Benito, Craig Davis of Austin, and Patricia Davis-Renno (Joe) of Flower Mound, TX; three grandchildren, Joshua (Samantha), Jeremy and Jordan Davis; one great-granddaughter, Delaney Davis; two sisters, Elsie (Horatio) Beck of Rodanthe, NC, and Dixie Hunt of Wanchese, NC; as well as his sister-in-law Ernestina Barrera and his brother-in-law Roberto Barrera.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 beginning at 6:00 p.m., followed by a holy rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 705 S. Longoria St., Port Isabel.

The funeral will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church followed by the burial at the Port Isabel City Cemetery with military honors to be conducted at graveside by VFW Post 2035 of Brownsville and VFW Post 8791 of Port Isabel.

Serving as pallbearers are Joshua Davis, Jeremy Davis, Jordan Davis, Robert Barrera, Ronaldo Barrera, Ruben Barrera, Jr., Hank Ethridge, and Andres Garcia. Honorary pallbearers are Horatio Beck, Joe Renno, Jesus Lopez, John Ethridge, and Luis Lester.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staffs of the Retama Manor Nursing Centers - Harlingen, Gentiva Hospice, and Nabeel Sarhill, M.D. and the staff of Texas Oncology for providing quality care for Thomas.
