Last Rites For Andrew Larsen

Andrew Larsen passed away early Wednesday morning, Nov. 26, at the home of his niece and nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Babka in Ord. Andrew, the son of the late Marie and Nels Larsen, was born at Holstein, Nebraska on July 13, 1892. He was 55 years, four months and 13 days at the time of his death.
In 1903 the Larsen family moved to Valley county, where he grew to manhood. In 1921 he purchased a farm in the Joint Community, which had been his home until February 1946, when failing health forced him to retire. Six weeks ago, he entered the Methodist hospital at Omaha, where he underwent an operation, which disclosed his ailment as an incurable cancer of the liver. His sister stayed with him while he was at the hospital and also helped care for him after his return to Ord, at the home of his niece.
He is survived by his sister, Carrie Larsen, of Ord, and his brother Lars Larsen of the Joint Community. Also three nephews Clarence Larsen, Gerald Larsen and Eldon Larsen, and two nieces Alice Babka and Eileen Timmerman, and two stepsisters, Mrs. Ellsworth Ball of Ord, and Mrs. Stanza Brandt of Omaha, two stepbrothers Henry and Harry Petersen, Kimball, Nebr.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon in the Hastings-Pearson chapel, with burial in the family plot in the Ord cemetery.
