John D. Vance, age 94, of Pinetop, Kentucky, passed away January 30, 2009 at the Hazard ARMC. He was born in Knott County, Kentucky on March 15, 1914 to George Washington Vance and Attie Amburgey Vance. He was preceded in death by his wife: Olive Vance; son: Aaron Vance; grandson: Edwin Vance. He is survived by sons: Ivis (Jeanette) Vance, Hayden (Glenna) Vance, George C. "Shot" (Joyce) Vance and Laduel Vance; daughter: Nasreeda (Robert) Short; brothers: Eldred (Janice) Vance and Bill (Donna) Vance; sisters: Alpha Banks, Eskie Mullins and Rose Grada Hicks; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 12:30PM, Sunday, February 1, 2009 at the Hindman Funeral Services Chapel with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will follow at the Vance Honeycutt Cemetery at Pinetop, Kentucky.
