It is with a very heavy heart that we announce the passing of our dear father, José León "Leo" Gonzáles, on November 1, 2016.
Leo was born in Lemitar, NM on May 22, 1921 to Hilario Julian and Priscilla (Benavídez) Gonzáles.
Leo was a World War II veteran and served in the United States Army Air Corps in the South Pacific.
Leo married Tomasita "Tommie" Aragón in March of 1946 in Socorro, NM. Shortly after they were married, they moved to Albuquerque, NM, where they raised six children, Ron (Lila) Gonzáles of Phoenix, AZ, Larry (Susan) Gonzáles of Thornton, CO, Mary Rael of Albuquerque, NM, Chuck Gonzáles of Dallas, TX, Joseph Gonzáles of Albuquerque, NM and Judi Darling of Queen Creek, AZ. Leo was the grandpa to 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Leo is preceded in death by his wife, Tomasita (Aragón) Gonzáles.
José worked for the United States Post Office for 34 years.
José will be remembered for his kind and gentle nature and his absolute devotion to his family.
Rosary will be recited on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at French – Wyoming, Albuquerque, NM. Graveside Services will be held on Friday, November 4, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM.
