Thomas H. Arey, Sr., 52, of 590 North Locust street, night manager of the Standard-Speaker business office, died at 9:25 yesterday morning at St. Joseph Hospital, where he had been a patient for the past three weeks. Born in Lattimer Mines, June 2, 1909, he was a son of the late William Henry and Martha (Williams) Arey. He resided in Lattimer until 12 years ago when he located in this city. The deceased was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church. He was employed by the newspaper since November 21, 1926.
Surviving are his wife, the former Leona Hale, a son, Thomas, Jr., this city, former proofreader for the Standard-Speaker who is now employed in Philadelphia; a daughter, Mrs. Charles (Elizabeth) Kennedy, this city; and four grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother, Samuel, Lattimer Mines, a Hazle Township school teacher; and four sisters: Mrs. Fred Blaser, Somerville, N.J.; Mrs. J. Edwin Wear, Allentown; Mrs. Martha Markle, Trenton, N.J.; and Mrs. W. Sterling Eiferd, Somerville.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Grebey Funeral Home. Rev. D. Owen Brubaker, pastor of St. Paul's Methodist Church, will conduct the services. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Friends may call from Monday at 2:30 until time of the funeral.
