Frederick was the youngest of 3 sons of Conrad and Maria Magdalena Yerian.
He was baptized John Frederick on March 16, 1777, at Dunkel's Church in Greenwich Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania, sponsors were his uncle and aunt Frederick and Susanna Yerian Leiby.
He was in his father's household in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, in 1790. From there his family moved into Wythe County, Virginia. He and his brother Mathias came through Tennessee, Mathias settling in Butler County, Ohio, and Frederick moving on into Indiana and finally Iowa.
Frederick married 1st about 1799 to Mary Ann Niece born about 1778, daughter Michael Niece, a resident of Greenlee County, Tennessee.
He married 2nd on May 24, 1802, Greene County, Tennessee, to Mary Freshour.
He married 3rd on April 20, 1842, Randolph County, Indiana, to Margaret Shoemaker.
He appears as a farmer in the 1850 census of Brownsville, Union County, Indiana, and is believed to have died in 1862 while living with a son in Agency City, Iowa.

Frederick's family name had been Irion in Germany, but in America different branches of the family used various spellings. Only Frederick and his descendants used the spelling Yaryan. His brother George used Yerion and some descendants of his brother Mathias used Yerigan. Cousins used Yerian, Yarian, and Yearian.
Frederick is thought to have been living at Agency City, Iowa, when he died.
