“Funeral services for Burton Metz, age 78 years, who died Friday noon, were held Sunday evening at 6 o’clock at the McDonald Funeral Parlor in Beloit, Kansas. The body was shipped to Wheeling for burial. The body arrived here Monday on the 2:30 train and taken direct to the Wheeling Cemetery, where short graveside services were conducted by Rev. Robert Chenoweth, pastor of the Baptist church. The body was laid to rest by the side of his wife, who preceded him in death twenty years and five days.
Burton Metz was married March 3, 1892, to Miss Anna Tompkins of south of Meadville at Central City, Mo. To this union, two sons and one daughter were born. All who, with their mother, preceded their father in death. Mr. Metz lost two grandsons in World War II, Bob Metz at Camp Campbell, Ky., and Bill Metz somewhere in Italy, both being in airplane work. He is survived by one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Finis Metz of Concordia, Kans.; and one great-grandson of Downs, Kans.; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Frank Tompkins and Mrs. F. S.
