Roy SPARROW, 105, dies
Roy C. SPARROW, of LaHarpe, Illinois, died at 9:55 a.m. at the LaHarpe Extended Care Facility.
SPARROW was born September 15, 1882, in West Point, Iowa. He was the son of William and Ida Swigert Sparrow.
He married Ivy Mae Hubbard July 2, 1903, in Adrian, Illinois. She died in February, 1946. He then married Hazel (Morrison) SPARROW in July, 1947, in Washington. She died in 1983.
He was a retired farmer and had lived most of his life in Niota, Illinois, and Lomax, Illinois. He had lived in LaHarpe since 1966 and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, LaHarpe, Illinois.
Surviving are one son, Harold SPARROW, Dallas City, Illinois; two daughters, Velna Orton, Burlington, and Ida Showalter, Indianapolis, Indiana; one stepdaughter, Doris McCoy, Columbus Junction; ten grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, several step-great grandchildren, and 18 great-great grandchildren.
Services for Mr. SPARROW were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Church of the Nazarene, LaHarpe, Illinois, with the Revs. Fred Borger and Ron McKee officiating. Burial was in Harris Cemetery, rural Dallas City, Illinois.
A memorial has been established for the LaHarpe Church of the Nazarene.
