Vergie Lee Carpenter, 96, formerly of Gaston Manor, died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at Century Care, Gastonia.
A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Miller Blaine Jenkins and Cleveland Helms Jenkins.
She was a homemaker and member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Luther Carpenter; a daughter, Dorothy Jean Clark; a brother, Leonard Jenkins; and three sisters, Ethel Jenkins Falls, Ollie Jenkins Dameron and Margaret Jenkins Hodge.
Burial was in Westview Gardens Cemetery.
