Martin L. Ethington
1928 - 2016
VETERAN

Martin L. Ethington, 88, passed away Friday, October 14, 2016, at home in Pleasant Grove, Utah. He was born July 2, 1928, in Provo, Utah, to Martin Luther and Ilda Holmes Ethington. Martin attended South High School in Salt Lake City, Utah, and Salt Lake Community College before serving a mission to the Eastern States for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He made a career in the United States Air Force where met and married the most beautiful woman he had ever seen, Lois "Evelyn" Clark. During his travels with his family, he continued his education and eventually graduated from Brigham Young University while he was employed there with the ROTC. After retiring from the service, he worked for many years in the Chemistry Department. His mission for the Church was the highlight of his life and the military travels gave his opportunities to serve in many capacities for the Church. He and his wife, Evelyn, served at the BYU Genealogical Library together as well as a mission to the MTC. He was a humble, kind person in life. After the death of Evelyn in 2005, he married Marilyn Curtis Terry Ethington. Together he and Marilyn were called for three years to serve in the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple.

Martin is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his sister, Nancy K. Ethington; sons, Brent (Traci), Paul (Tammy), and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Evelyn; son, Layne; his parents and two sisters, Ellen Ethington and Marilyn Wooley.
