Martha Evelyn (Carow) Leabo was the daughter of August Herman Carow and Hannah E. Tucker. Her father was a German immigrant. She married Jesse Douglas Leabo on December 27, 1909, in Lebanon, Oregon. They had five children: Doris, John, Vera, Jesse, and David. They traveled a lot due to Jesse's work in the lumber industry, and they homesteaded a half section from 1915 to 1918 near Council, Adams County, Idaho. She died shortly after giving birth to David.
