E. Leroy Covert, 66, of Orbisonia, died at 1:01 p.m. Sunday, February 17, 1991, in the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon.

Born August 29, 1924, in Cromwell Township, Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late Leslie and Lucinda (Runk) Covert. He was married to the former Ruth Locke on August 20, 1946, at Hagerstown, Md.

Surviving are his wife, at their home; seven children: David L. Covert of Prattsburgh, N.Y.; Mrs. Donald (Carol) Pierce, Valley Grove, W.Va.; Mrs. George (Kathleen) Rabenstein, Orbisonia R.D.; Mrs. William R. (Donna) Morgan, Huntingdon R.D.; Mrs. Craig (Christine) Walters, Shade Gap; Kevin L. Covert, Fayetteville; and Jason R. Covert, at home; and 12 grandchildren.

Also surviving are eight brothers and sisters: Clifford L. Covert, Shade Gap; Amanda Plank, Mount Union R.D.; Richard C. Covert and Midlred Booher, noth of Orbisonia R.D.; Dorothy Fields, Three Springs; John B. Covert, Newville; Erma Ulsh, Rockhill Furnace; and Esther P. Covert, Huntingdon.

One brother and one sister preceded him in death.

Mr. Covert was a member of the Rockhill Church of the Brethren, where he currently served as a deacon and had served in past years on the Steward Commission. an avid auto racing enthusiast, he was a member of the Central Pennsylvania Mini-Stock Club.

He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific theater.

For 30 years, Mr. Covert worked for the Joyce Western Corp., Andover, N.Y., as a pipeline foreman. Prior to that, he had worked at the Harbison-Walker Refractories in Mount Union.

Private funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 20, at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, with the Rev. Ronald Beverlin officiating. Interment will be in Mount Union Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday, from 7-9 p.m.
