Phillip died on 17 Aug 1959 in Tarboro, North Carolina. When he was 26, he married Hattie L. FOXMAN, daughter of Louis FOXMAN and Celia HACKER, on 28 Aug 1910 in Baltimore County, Maryland.
Phillip immigrated to the US in 1906 with his mother and a number of his siblings. His father Max and brother Aaron had migrated 7 years earlier. He migrated to Lenoir County, NC with his family and helped developed a very successful department store - along with brothers Aaron and Wolf - first in Kinston and then in other small towns in North Carolina. His home in Kinston NC at 608 Rhem Street is on the National Register of Historic Places.
