Minnie Alpha Nolen Maxwell was born Nov 1, 1883 in Tennessee. Her Dad, William Harding Nolen married her mother Laura White on July 21,1878 in Overton County, Tennessee. (Tennessee State Marriages 1780-2002. They had 4 girls all born in Tennessee. Fannie Elizabeth April 23, 1878 (my Grandmother), Lucy, Mealy (Katy), and Minnie Alpha (Min). William & Laura are listed in the 1880 Federal Census with 1 year old Fannie living in District 3, Overton County, Tennessee. I was told by my family that Laura died when Fannie was 8 years old & in the 3rd grade. That would be 1886. Then Fannie went to live with another family in the area named Goodpasture. William remarried in Aug 19,1888 according to the Tennessee State Marriages 2780-2002.He married Sarah Jane Hollors. My Grandmother Fannie & her husband Alvin Cullum Adams came from Tennessee to Chandler, Oklahoma & settled there. Minnie and her family and Minnie & Fannies Dad William Harding & his wife Sarah also came & settled in Oklahoma.

OBITUARY
Minnie Alpha Maxfield was born in Overton County, Tennessee on Nov. 1, 1883, the daughter of William H. & Laura Jane White Nolen. She departed this life Oct 19, 1976 in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 92 years.

She was married to Virgil Hansford Maxwell on June 12, 1902 in Clay County, Tennessee. To this union 6 children were born.

Mrs Maxwell had lived in the Chandler, Oklahoma/Davenport area since 1907 having moved to Oklahoma from Tennessee, but had resided in the Sour Lake, Texas area for the past 6 years.

She was a member of The Assembly of God church.


Mrs. Maxwell was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Maxwell in March of 1950; 2 daughters, Mrs. Laura Standard & Mrs Virgie Lee Folks, 2 sons Clarence Nolen Maxwell & George Raymond Maxfield.

Survivers include 2 daughters, Mrs Kathryn Hooks of Sour Lake, Texas, Mrs. Mildred Shaffer of Pryor, Oklahoma; one 1/2 sister Mrs. Laura Tatum of Guthrie, Okla; 11 Grandchildren, & 17 great grandchildren; & other friends & relatives.
