Katherine O. Mowris
Katherine O. Mowris, 90, a long-time area resident, died on Thursday, June 30, 2016, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie.
She was born May 26, 1926 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, to the late Earl and Gertrude Baker Winchell.
Katherine worked at the former Hudson River State Hospital in Poughkeepsie until her retirement.
A very loving person, she enjoyed taking care of those close to her.
On December 22, 1944 in Pine Plains, Katherine married Eugene Mowris. He predeceased her on April 5, 2009.
Katherine is survived by her son, Layne Mowris, and wife, Sue, of Rhinebeck; son, Wes Mowris, of Red Hook; daughter, Genie Oles, and her husband, Clayton, of Hyde Park; six grandchildren, Earl, Bonnie, Clayton, Shawn, Tory, and Chris; thirteen great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Catherine Winchell; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her son, Leo Mowris, and three brothers, Andrew, Roy and Avery Winchell.
Calling hours will be from 11 am-12 noon on Saturday, July 2nd at Sweet's Funeral Home, Route 9, Hyde Park. A Funeral Service will follow the visitation at 12 Noon. Rev. John R. Thomas will officiate.
Burial will be in the family plot at Evergreen Cemetery, Pine Plains.
