Ernest "Ernie" Mencl, 76, Beatrice, died Tuesday, December 6, 2005 at the Beatrice Manor Care Center. He was born June 8, 1929 at Virginia, Nebraska. He graduated from Virginia High School on May 15, 1946. He married Carline Marie Jurgens at the American Lutheran Church in Filley, Nebraska on June 25, 1950. In 1953 they moved to a farm near Virginia. In 1959 they moved to Beatrice. He retired from Midwest Livestock in 1991 where he had worked as a parts man. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Beatrice He was involved in many activities. He enjoyed boating, traveling and working on the farm.

Survivors: wife Carline of Beatrice; daughter: Deborah Mencl of Chandler, AZ; sons: David Mencl and wife Barbara of Hutchison, KS, Douglas Mencl and fiancé Elizabeth Shoemaker of Mingo,IA; Grandsons: Jason Sullivan and wife Ann of Elkhorn, NE, Brian Mencl of Hutchison, KS and Justin Mencl of Manhattan, KS; Brothers: John Mencl and wife Glenadine of Virginia, NE, Adolph Mencl of Virginia, NE; Sisters in law: Dorothy Mencl Doerr of Virginia, NE, Lydia Jurgens of Adams, NE; brother in law: P.J. Jurgens of Filley, NE; nephews, nieces and cousins.

Preceded in death by: Parents: John and Beulah (Habrich) Mencl; infant daughter: Kathy Mencl; Brothers: Joseph, Charles & Elvin; Sister in law: Agnes Mencl

Memorial Service: 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 6, 2005 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Beatrice; Pastor Douglas Irmer and Pastor Timothy Wagner, officiating. Prayer Service with burial to follow: 9:00 A.M., Friday at Harman-Wright Mortuary Chapel. Burial: Virginia Cemetery, Virginia, NE. Visitation: Harman-Wright Mortuary 3PM-9PM Wednesday, 8AM-9PM Thursday, and 8AM to 9AM Friday. Memorial established to St. Paul Lutheran Church with Wilbur & Bonnie Oestreich in charge.
