Keowee Courier Dec. 5, 1900
Mr. Abner Boatwright died at his home on Tugaloo River one day last week, aged about 100 years and no doubt was the oldest man in Oconee county. Mr. Boatwright was one of this county's most upright and reliable citizens and will be greatly missed. He was a valiant soldier in the Confederate army, and, although above the age of young manhood when the call was made for volunteers, he responded promptly and enlist in Company C, Second S.C. Rifles, Capt. O.M. Doyle, and served faithfully as long as his age and health would permit. The deceased has been a constant reader of the Keowee Courier since its inception. Mr. Boatwright leave a wife and two children to mourn his death. His remains were laid to rest in the family burying ground on his farm. The sorrowing relatives have the sympathy of many friends. "Requiescat in Peace."

NOTE: Daughter, ARGIN (b. Nov 12, 1855 Long Creek, Oconee Co., SC) married Feb 23, 1879 Oconee Co., SC, to WILLIAM SEVIER ROTHELL (b. abt 1853 Oconee Co., SC - d. May 13, 1932 Collbran, De Kalb Co., AL) familysearch.org).
