Apr. 16, 1948 - Oct. 2, 2016 age 68, went to be with his Lord and Savior October 2, 2016. Gary is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Juanita Tidwell; his son Christopher Tidwell; his sisters Donna Tidwell, Karen Dyess, Debbie Milton, Vicki Lavett; and his brother Scott Tidwell; and 4 grandchildren. Gary graduated from Tarrant High School in 1966, and was inducted into the U.S. Army in Fort Benning, Georgia in February, 1969. Soon after, He was transferred to the USAR Control Group in St Louis, MO. After faithfully serving his country, Gary was Honorably discharged in February, 1971, with the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal (1st Award), and the Marksman (M-14) Army Commendation Medal. Gary became Vice President of Collateral Mortgage Co. and New South Federal, serving for 25 years. With deep passion, he volunteered several years through organizations such as Hearts and Hands, which he co-founded, to assist seniors with daily living needs and transportation to prevent/delay their need for institutionalized healthcare. Gary loved his God, his family, and his friends with all his heart. He was a hunter, a computer geek, and a lifelong Alabama fan. Visitation will be Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 10-11 AM at Ridout's Trussville Chapel with his service beginning at 11 AM. Burial will follow at Jefferson Memorial Gardens.
