Mrs. Dorena Knies, 67, of Jasper was pronounced dead on arrival at Memorial Hospital at 11:05 a.m. today after apparently suffering a heart attack.
Mrs. Knies, who was residing with Mrs. Clara Miller of 412 E Fifth St., was stricken at the home of William Teder of 1310 Heusler St., where she worked during the day as a housekeeper.
She was born on Oct. 16, 1908, at Jasper to Andrew Burger Sr. and Catherine Gramelspacher Burger.
She was the widow of Leo B. Knies who died on May 21, 1963.
Survivors include:
Son: Delmar Knies, of Jasper.
Four brothers: Andrew Burger Jr. and Sylvester, and Leonard Burger, all of Jasper and Ambrose Burger of Phoenix, Ariz.
Two sisters: Mrs. Andrew Lampert of Jasper and Mrs. Marie Schwenk of Ireland
And three grandchildren.
Mrs. Knies was preceded in death by two sons and a sister who died in infancy and by a brother, Ralph Burger.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel where the St. Ann Society and other members of Sacred Heart Church in Schnellville will hold a rosary service at 7:30 pm/ Thursday.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in Sacred Heart Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
