NAPLES, Uintah County - Louis Soderquist, 89, Naples, retired farmer, livestockman, and blacksmith, died in his residence here Thursday at 1:10 a.m. of causes incident to age.
He was born August 1, 1863 in Skona, Sweden, a son of Lars and Hanna Munson Soderquist. He came to the United States at the age of 17 and settled in Montrose, Colo. In 1892 he married Martha Selina Johnson in Julesburg, Colo. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
In 1908 they moved to Uintah Basin and had resided here since. Mr. Soderquist was an ardent hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include his widow; a son, Arthur Soderquist, Vernal; three daughters, Mrs. Elma Lawson, Ogden, Mrs. Elsie Raese, Portland, Ore., and Mrs. Ellen Haws, Vernal; 10 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in Naples Ward Chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Friends may call at Vernal Mortuary Sunday afternoon and evening and at the family residence Monday from 10 a.m. to time of services. Burial will be in Vernal Memorial Park Cemetery.
