John Ummerteskee Jr. the son of John Sr. and Mary Ann (Reese) Ummerteskee was born November 4, 1967 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and departed this life on September 29, 2016 surrounded by family at his home in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 48 years, 10 months and 25 days.
John loved family gatherings where he played cards and watched movies. He enjoyed being outdoors whether he was fishing, swimming, hunting, camping or working in the garden. He helped teach the younger generation, his nieces and nephews, the ways of gardening. He always told them ''you never know when you might need to know this''. He attended Briggs School as a child and graduated from Tahlequah High School. He worked for Grace Living Center for over 16 years. He worked at church and at Dwight Soap's place for 4 years when he lived in Missouri. He came back to Briggs where he loved to teach the younger generation. He loved his dogs Izzy and Smiley, and they kept him going everyday through life. John touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents George Reese Sr. and Bessie (Dreadfulwater) Reese and Watt and Lucy Ummerteskee; his sisters Debra Ummerteskee and Earlene Ummerteskee; his sister-in-law Lela Ummerteskee; his nephew Lonnie Lynn Davis Jr., and his niece Ochteeyah Ummerteskee.
He is survived by a loving family which includes his brothers Perry Ummerteskee of Tahlequah, Bobby Ummerteskee of Tahlequah, Rodney Ummerteskee and wife Susie of Stilwell, and Michael Ummerteskee and wife Pauline of Tahlequah; his sisters Rhonda Kirk and husband Rickie of Missouri, Marquita Sixkiller and fiancé Rickie Caviness of Tahlequah, Patricia Fuentes and husband Casimiro of Tahlequah and Sonja Ummerteskee of Okmulgee. Many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive him.
