Visitation will be Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 6 pm-8 pm in the chapel of Thrasher Family Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 10 am. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery in Noble, IL. Pastor Troy Reynolds will be officiating.
Lowell was born on February 2, 1933 in Mt. Erie, the son of William and Rachel (Gardner) Atwood. He later married Ina Wilson on April 12, 1956 in Olney. She survives.
He was a Prairie Farms Pasteurizer for many years. He also attended The Revival Center in Olney. He was a family man, a husband, and an all-around wonderful guy. He enjoyed wood working, playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was often referred to as "Mr. Wonderful." He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
Lowell is survived by his wife Ina Atwood; son, Steven Atwood Sr. of Noble; 3 daughters, Debra Millman, and husband Edward of Olney, Cheryl Allison and husband John David of Olney, Connie Hawkins and husband Dave of Olney; sister Joan Simmons and husband Don of Mt. Erie; 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Rachel Atwood; 4 brothers, Loyde Atwood, Layton Atwood, Robert Atwood and Joseph Atwood; 3 sisters Mary Smith, Violet Merrick and Martha Street; and infant brother, Gerald Atwood.
Memorials can be sent to the family to help with burial fund in memory of Lowell Edward Atwood.
