JONAS H. ROWLAND, 62 years old, 16 East Washington Street, former constable, was found unconscious yesterday afternoon on the elevator at the Hagerstown Bookbinding and Printing Company, where he is an employe, and died soon afterward, of a heart attack.
He was born near Chewsville, the son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth (Rinehart) Rowland.
He was chief of Waynesboro police, and for 12 years was constable here. He was a member of the Christ Reformed Church and the Modern Woodman.
Surviving besides his wife and daughter, Mrs. Hattie Bonebrake, and son, Earl, both of this city; brother, Charles, Sterling, Ill.
Funeral services were held at his home. Interment in Rose Hill Cemetery.
