Barbara Bell Mortimore, 66, a loving mother, “Momma B,” sister and friend, died Feb. 26 at Waccamaw Community Hospital.
Born in Loris, she was a daughter of the late Robert Roscoe and Ethel Lou Mae Strickland Bell.
Ms. Mortimore retired after 17 years from Blue Cross Blue Shield.
She was preceded in death by brothers David Edgar Bell and Samuel L. Bell.
Survivors include her son Thomas Mortimore of Myrtle Beach; daughter Stephanie Atkinson and husband Scott of Myrtle Beach; granddaughter Felicity Elyse Atkinson; brothers Jack Bell (Ruth), of Loris, J. Carlton Bell (Jeanette) of Myrtle Beach, Robert L. Bell (Jane) of Myrtle Beach, Freddie Bell (Brenda) of Horsheads, N.Y., and Perry Spencer Bell (Lou) of Lexington; sisters E Marie Stephens (Bobby) of Murrells Inlet, Nancy Cribb of Tabor City, N.C. and Betty B. Lunsford of Camden and loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held March 2 at Glenns Bay Baptist Church. Memorial contributions may be made Susan B. Komen for the Cure, 5005 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250, Dallas, T. 75244.
