He was the son of Frank L. and Dora Richardson Blum.
In the World War he became a member of Company I, 39th Infantry and served 14 months overseas.
He married Elma Klumbach in 1921.
Besides his wife and father, he leaves four daughters, Elma May, Betty Jane, Ethel Rose and Carol Ann; five brothers, Frank L., Jr., Leonard Blum, George Blum, Harold and William Blum; two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Barth and Mrs. Frank Slivinski, Utica.
