Services for Benny Jay Fletcher, 66, will be on Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2006, in the Ratliff City First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dwight Hawkins officiating, assisted by Pastor Roger Ledford. Burial will be in Ratliff City Cemetery.

Fletcher was born to Thomas Hughie Fletcher and Jossie M. Lucas Fletcher in Walters and died in his residence in Comanche. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Clifford William in 1930, Leland Don (L.D.) on June 18, 1996, and Clinton Earl on Feb. 26, 2006.

Benny was a simple man and loved all those who knew him. He was a resident of this area most of his life. He was a very talented musician, playing music every Friday night at the Housing Project Community Room in Comanche as part of the Comanche Opry Band. He had been a resident of Comanche for the last seven years, attending church at the Graceway Baptist Church in Duncan.

Benny was said to be a "Jack of all Trades," working in the oil field, doing appliance repair and electrician work.

He was also a sheriff's deputy and police officer in several counties and cities, including Hugo, Kingfisher, Hennessey and Ratliff City.

Benny was most favorable of the moments he spent playing music and being with his family, especially his grandkids. He was also a very talented artist, loving to sketch.

He is survived by three daughters, LaDonna Jean Hoggard, and husband, Jim, Pruitt City; Sherry Renea Angel, and husband, Al, Lone Grove, and Kerri Eastwood, and husband, Will, Aberdeen, Ohio; a son, Benny LaRay Fletcher Sr., and wife, Pam, Longview, Texas; four brothers, Hughie Joe Fletcher, Comanche, Jerry Fletcher, and wife, Joyce, Pruitt City, Ralph Fletcher, Meridian, and Kenneth Fletcher, and wife, Johnnie, Graham; the mother of their three children, Jana Morris Fletcher, Ringling; nine grandchildren, Tana Morse, and husband, Keith, Ratliff City, Jimmy Hoggard, Ratliff City, Nickey Fowler and Dakota Fowler, both of Lone Grove, Alyson Angel, Marietta, Benny LaRay Fletcher Jr., Healdton, Brittley Fletcher, Tishomingo, Kyle Smart, Ratliff City, and Kaleigh Eastwood, Aberdeen; dear companion, Sue Morgan, Comanche, and her children, Gayle Edwards, Dibble, DeWayne Hughes, Ringling, and Gary Hughes, Comanche. He was also a very special "Sugar Pa" to Katelynn Gibson, Tori Gibson, Tiffany Gibson and Jordan Edwards, all of Oklahoma City; and great granddaughter, Lakeigha Fletcher, Tishomingo.

Bearers will be nephews, Darrell Fletcher, Ray Fletcher, Chris Fletcher, Ladon Fletcher, Randy Fletcher and Tommy Fletcher. Honorary bearers are grandsons, Dakota Fowler, Kyle Smart, Jimmy Hoggard and Benny LaRay Fletcher Jr.; and all the members of the Comanche Opry Band.
