Mary Catherine (Guy) Abell, 90, of California, MD died September 26, 2006 in California, MD. Born November 22, 1915 in Medley's Neck, MD she was the daughter of the late George F. & Mary Ellen Turner Guy. She was preceded in death by her husband Harry B. Abell, Sr. on June 6, 1976 whom she married on December 28, 1936 in St. John's Catholic Church, Hollywood, MD. She is survived by her children: Cathy Bos and her husband Dick of St. Mary's City, MD, Harry Abell, Jr. and his wife Rita W., Les Abell, Gene Abell and his wife Danita, Wayne Abell and his wife Rita L. & Bill Abell and his wife Melva all of California, MD; 15 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren & 2 step great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her 2 grandsons: Joey & Chris Abell. Ms. Abell was a lifelong St. Mary's County resident and enjoyed the many relationships she developed over her long life. Her dedication to preserving relationships extended to her friends with whom she played cards twice weekly and to her companion members of the Catholic Daughters of America. She took great pride in creating a supportive and loving environment in which her family lived. Working on the farm and living simply, she instilled a strong work ethic and appreciation for all things big and small, in her family. Her greatest passion was her family unit and all memories of times spent together. Her house was the hub of all family activity and she cherished her role as matriarch.
